Breadshare bread is available at Whitmuir the Organic Place farm shop

We are a group of people who love real bread and want it to be available to everybody, creating a viable, sustainable, not-for-profit bakery business in the Scottish Borders.
Breadshare is a part of the local community:
Breadshare makes excellent, nutritious bread, including its signature Border Country loaf, and other distinctive local products, using artisan and slow-fermentation methods and, wherever possible, freshly milled flour from wheat grown in the local region.
Breadshare products already have a much lower environmental impact than many, and we are working to reduce that even further. We use the minimum packaging (what we do use is biodegradable or compostable) and innovative distribution systems that make use of existing, daily journeys at the same time as forging new links between local customers, businesses, producers and neighbours.
For more on a Breadshare loaf's carbon footprint, see: Organic Farming and Local Food: Life Cycle Analysis of Breadshare's Bakery Bread.
We have raised some funds to establish our bakery at Whitmuir Farm in Lamancha. We have recruited our baker, Connor Rose, who commenced baking in January 2012.
Come and join us, taste our breads and tell us what you think. Join our mailing list, ask us questions, find out more.
Tell us what you'd like to buy, whether you'd be willing to pay a regular subscription and what you'd like the Breadshare bakery to do for you. If you have a business, let's talk about new ways of working together. Become a volunteer baker, a "bread basket" for your neighbourhood, a grain-chain demonstrator . . . or offer your other talents.
Buy our bread from Whitmuir Farm shop, or become a breadbasket to help distribute real bread into the community
Our bakery needs continued financial support from the community, so 'throw us a loaf loan' and earn interest in real bread.
We need all the support we can get, so if you have bright ideas please contact us.
